Thrust Roller Bearings

Thrust bearings are designed to manage thrust (axial) loads and provide high-shock-load resistance in a variety of applications. There are several basic thrust bearing types: cylindrical, tapered and spherical.

Spherical Roller Thrust Bearings

Spherical roller thrust bearings are designed to achieve a high thrust capacity with low friction and continuous roller alignment. This bearing type is ideal for operating conditions that experience heavy loads, difficulty in establishing or maintaining housing alignment, or shaft deflection.

  • Able to accommodate misalignment
  • Suitable for high axial and some radial loads
  • Relatively high speed ratings
  • Standards: DIN 728
  • Series: 29200, 29300, 29400

Cylindrical Roller Thrust Bearings

Cylindrical roller thrust bearings are suitable for arrangements that have to support heavy axial loads, they are also relatively insensitive to shock loads, are very stiff and require little axial space. As standard they are available as single direction bearings and can only accommodate axial loads acting in one direction.

  • Available in single direction as standard, double direction upon request
  • Suitable for high axial loads
  • Insensitive to shock loads
  • Low to medium speed ratings
  • Standards: DIN 616, DIN 722
  • Series: 81100, 81200

Tapered Roller Thrust Bearings

Tapered roller thrust bearings consist of small tapered rollers arranged so that their axes all converge at a point on the axis of the bearing. These are the type most commonly used in automotive applications (to support the wheels of a motor car for example), where they are used in pairs to accommodate axial thrust in either direction, as well as radial loads. Both single and double direction tapered roller thrust bearings are available.

  • Available in single direction and double direction
  • Suitable for high axial loads
  • Insensitive to shock loads
